APPA Fashion Photographer of the Year 2012

What an amazing honour it  was to be awarded the title of Australian Fashion Photographer of the year and to stand on that stage with so many amazingly talented photographers. It was a very surreal experience especially when we had hesitated to enter these images in the fashion category, having never even seen fashion judged before, as we felt they were more portrait based. However they were all commissioned works so we took a chance and wow did it pay off. I have to say I couldn’t have done it without the amazing talents of Penny Adams and her incredible styling and support. Both Andre de Deugd and Shona Scott on hair and makeup are always an absolute pleasure to work with and gave 100% on the day, which entailed everything from furniture removing to set designing and dressing models, not just hair and makeup. Also Richard our retoucher at Immerse. He was stoked to be given the opportunity to retouch these images for the awards and did an outstanding job.

In only my second time entering the Australian awards I have come away with something that I thought would take 10 years to achieve. Now I just have to set my goals for next year…….
